Field hockey varsity improves to 12-0

The Gloucester High School varsity field hockey team has improved to 12-0 with a pair of recent shutouts. The Dukes blanked host Heritage, 13-0, on Tuesday and defeated visiting Woodside, 9-0, in a sprinkle-soaked contest last Thursday.

Senior Kessa Romero led the offense with three goals in both wins. Also scoring against the Wolverines were Ali Goodwin, Tally Vaughan, Hannah Hamay, Kate Neikirk, Meg Crowley and Meg Teagle.

Two scoring assists each came from Elizabeth Thomas, Neikirk, Goodwin and Vaughan and assists were provided by Cara O’Beirne, H.P. Johnson and Hamay.

In the 13-goal shutout of the Hurricanes, O’Beirne joined Romero with three goals in the win, Goodwin and Neikirk had two each and Farren Winter, Hamay and Crowley scored. Goodwin, Vaughan and O’Beirne had two assists each and assists came from Winter, Crowley, Teagle and Neikirk.
