FCCLA members present mirror project to county leaders

Falon Cook and Grace Keel, members of Mathews High School Family, Career and Community Leaders of America chapter, met last month with Mathews Visitor and Information Center board members and representatives of the Mathews County Historical Society and Mathews Memorial Library. These students proposed their FCCLA State Leadership and Recognition Conference project to have convex mirrors installed on the corner of the visitor center building to increase visibility for drivers. Cook and Keel, who recently completed their freshman year at Mathews High School, have circulated a petition in support of their proposal, and said they have the support of Troy Garrett, vice president of the Mathews County Fire Department, and Mathews Sheriff April Edwards. Billy Cook of the Mathews Planning Commission, and Mathews County’s Director of Facilities and Grounds Tim Tillage have also been formed to see this project through to completion, the release said.
