The Gloucester Genealogical Society of Virginia will meet at 10 a.m. Monday at Buck’s Store Museum in Bena.
Daniel V. Fary, local historian, will present a program on the Fary family of Gloucester, telling of its arrival in the county, growth, the businesses they established and the family’s impact on Gloucester, a release said.
Fary, a Gloucester native, is a 1971 graduate of Gloucester High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in history and political science from Virginia Tech in 1975. He taught at Gloucester Intermediate School from 1976-82, and earned a master’s degree in educational administration from the College of William & Mary in 1982.
Moving into administration, he was assistant principal at GHS 1982-86, principal at Gloucester Intermediate 1986-90, and principal at Peasley Middle School 1990-2006.
Fary has served on the Gloucester Historical Committee since 2009 and is currently its chairperson. He is also President of the Gloucester Museum Foundation.
The public is cordially invited to attend the presentation and to enjoy the old-store ambience and displays at Buck’s Store Museum, operated by the Guinea Heritage Association.
