Farmers’ market begins May 30 on Gloucester’s Main Street

The third annual Gloucester Main Street Association Farmers’ Market will be held on Wednesdays beginning with a "soft opening" next Wednesday, May 30.

GMSA executive director Jen Christman said Monday that instead of being held at one location, this year the market will rotate between the parking lots of Kelsick Market, Twice Told Tales and possibly several other Main Street business locations. Each market will run from 4:30-7:30 p.m.

The grand opening for this year’s market, which is being called Main Street Market Place, will be held on Wednesday, June 6, Christman said. Markets are planned, rain or shine except for severe weather, each Wednesday through Aug. 29, although no market will be held on Independence Day, July 4, which falls on a Wednesday this year.

Markets are intended to support local vendors, Christman said, as well as draw extra business to Main Street merchants. Some businesses may stay open extended hours or hold other promotions on nigh...
