Farm Bureau to feature Gloucester on ‘Real Virginia’

Virginia Farm Bureau’s “Real Virginia” television program will highlight Gloucester County as part of its “County Close-Up” segment in September.

The Close-Up is a monthly focus on a Virginia county, providing an in-depth look at the area from an agricultural perspective. Burke Moeller, video producer for Farm Bureau, interviews local farmers and others to explore the role agriculture plays in the county, which sectors are most prevalent and how the industry is changing.

The most recent Census of Agriculture, conducted in 2017, found Gloucester had a total of 166 farms on 26,014 acres, and the market value of all agricultural products sold that year was more than $11 million, a release from the Farm Bureau said. Crops account for 80 percent of all farm income.
