FANNIE MAE FURBY POLLARD

Fannie Mae Furby Pollard, 92, of Hayes, peacefully entered the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the early morning hours of Friday, Dec. 22, 2017.

Fannie began her life’s journey on March 13, 1925 in Tabb. She was the youngest daughter of the late Arthur and Lottie Furby.

Fannie was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Phillip A. Pollard; brothers, Arthur, Ellis, John, Frank Furby, and her sister, Annie Evans.

Fannie received her education at Yorktown Training School. 

After 20 years of service she retired from Eastern State Hospital in Williamsburg.

She leaves to cherish her memories her children, Carl L. Arrington (Maureen) of Hampton, the Rev. Larry J. Arrington (Angeline) of Hayes, Bruce Pollard of Hayes, Regina Fenner of Mechanicsville, and Denise Waters (Thomas) of Hayes. She also leaves to cherish her memories her nine grandchildren, Kimberly Arrington of Charlotte, North Carolina, Janée Arrington of Hayes, Carl Arrington Jr. of Charlotte, Ariel Miller of the Bronx, New York, Justin Waters of Hayes, Matthew Arrington of Hayes, Phylesha Pollard of Lancaster, Shawn Waters of Virginia Beach, and Collin Fenner of Mechanicsville; a brother, James Linwood Furby of Hampton; two special nieces, Dorothy Richmond of Hampton and Marie Chisman of Williamsburg, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and all those who called her Mother Pollard.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, at First Morning Star Baptist Church, Bena. Interment will follow in Morning Glory Baptist Church Cemetery, 8956 Morning Glory Road, Gloucester, Virginia 23061.

Family and friends will assemble at 2750 Montgomery Drive, Hayes, at 10:30 on Friday. 

Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 28, from 6-7 p.m., First Morning Star Baptist Church, Bena.
