Family facing cancer diagnosis gets help from PHA’s Project Comfort and Joy

A new heating and cooling system was recently installed for a deserving local family as part of Peninsula Heating and Air’s Project Comfort and Joy Contest. The Pagan family of Gloucester received the free unit, replacing their old system that did not adequately keep the couple and their two young children comfortable.

The family received devastating news on Jan. 1, 2011 when they found out husband and father Jose Pagan was diagnosed with cancer. Since then, the family has faced many challenges, according to Jose’s wife, Gloriabeth.

"Although it’s been an extremely difficult year for our family, we have had a lot of blessings," she said.

One of these blessings came in the form of being nominated in the PHA contest. "We’re so appreciative to PHA and to the person who nominated us for this," Pagan said. "It’s been one of those things that has been a struggle and worry in our life and one I don’t have to worry about anymore."
