The fall rockfish season in Virginia’s portion of the Chesapeake Bay opens Monday and continues through Dec. 31.
State rules for rockfish, or striped bass, allow one fish per person a day, and the fish must be between 20 inches and 36 inches long. Circle hooks must be used when fishing with bait.
Minimum weight for a citation fish is 40 pounds; minimum length for a released-fish citation is 44 inches.
