120 YEARS AGOThursday, May 3, 1906from the Mathews Journal If you think of fitting new sails on your boat or putting a fine awning on your launch, a thing the launch owner can’t do without, call on Floyd C. Hurst, Traders, Va. (Diggs Wharf). Mr. Hurst is an expert in sailmaking and will please you. A very pretty marriage was solemnized at the West Mathews parsonage on Thursday evening last at seven o’clock. The contracting parties were Mrs. Bettie Atherton and Mr. Celie Foster both of Blakes. The bride is the handsome and accomplished daughter of Mr. John Bassett, and widow of the late William Atherton. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Foster and one of the enterprising young men of the community. The ceremony was performed in the parlor of the parsonage, in the presence of a few friends, by the officiating clergyman, the Rev.
