Exchange Club to hold meet and greet Sunday

The Exchange Club of Gloucester-Mathews, which was chartered just over a year ago, already has 32 members. The community service club will hold a meet and greet Sunday afternoon at Beaverdam Park under the covered pavilion from 2:30-4:30 for those interested in joining.

According to club treasurer Nancy Deptola, there will be both board and club members to help answer questions, along with hamburgers, hot dogs and light refreshments.

“We want to help everybody,” said Deptola.

Over the past year, the club has assisted with numerous community organizations, such as the GUEST Shelter, the Avalon Center, the Mathews Family YMCA, the Mathews Boys & Girls Club, the Gloucester Moose Lodge, The Giving Garden Foundation, Knott Alone-Hold Fast, among others.

The National Exchange Club was founded in the United States in 1917 and focuses on community service, youth programs and Americanism. Deptola said the club is all about paying it forward and doing what you can to help others...
