TOURISM: The Gloucester Tourism Advisory Committee will meet at 4 o’clock today, Thursday, Nov. 13, at the Museum of History, 6539 Main Street.

UTILITIES: The Gloucester Utilities Advisory Committee will meet at 6 o’clock this evening, Thursday, Nov. 13, in Public Utilities Building 4, 7384 Carriage Court just off Court Circle.

DAFFODIL CLUB: The Gloucester Daffodil Club meets at 4 p.m. today, Thursday, Nov. 13, at Brent and Becky’s Bulbs, Ware Neck.

4-H: Gloucester 4-H will have an open house from 6-7 o’clock this evening, Thursday, Nov. 13, in the T.C. Walker Education Center cafeteria, 6099 T.C. Walker Road, Gloucester. For more information, call 804-693-2602.

DINNER AND A SHOW: The Mathews High School Music Department will have Dinner and a Show at 6:30 tonight, Thursday, Nov. 13, at Mathews Elementary School, 347 Church Street. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 6-12.

FRIDAY

OYSTER ROAST: Ware Academy will have its all-you-can-eat Community Oyster Roast Fundraiser from 6-9 p.m. Friday at 7936 John Clayton Memorial Highway, Gloucester. The roast also includes all-you-can-drink beer, wine and water, with live music by Tidewater Drive. Tickets start at $75. Children under 13 free of charge with ticketed adult. ‘FROZEN JR’: The Court House Players production of the Disney musical “Frozen Jr.” opens at 7 p.m. Friday in the Harry M. Ward Auditorium at Mathews High School. There will be two performances on Saturday, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and one on Sunday, at 3 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students, available at the door. MASTER GARDENERS: Gloucester Master Gardeners will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday at Brent and Becky’s Bulbs, Ware Neck. The event is free and open to the public.

CRAB CAKE FUNDRAISER: The Lions Club of Mathews will have a crab cake fundraiser beginning at noon Saturday at the clubhouse at 1347 Windsor Road. The cost is $30 for two dinner-sized crab cakes, two chips and two sodas. It will continue until supplies are sold out.

AUTHOR TALK: Bestselling author Shawn Cosby will take part in a program from 3-5 p.m. Saturday at the Cobbs Creek Arts Center, 61 Cobbs Creek Lane. The talk is sponsored by the Mathews Branch NAACP.

SUNDAY

FREEDOM: A free living history performance by Shades of Our Past and the Watermen’s Museum will be presented to the public at 2 p.m. Sunday in Gloucester’s colonial courthouse, 6504 Main Street. Titled “Freedom—Freedom Lost, Freedom Gained,” the performance brings to life Lord Dunmore’s seizing of the Hampton printing press to issue his proclamation offering freedom to enslaved people who joined the British cause.

BROADBAND: The Mathews Broadband Advisory Board will meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Mathews Memorial Library on Main Street.

NARFE: Middle Peninsula Chapter 1757 of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in the banquet room behind Damon & Company restaurant, Gloucester. The guest speaker will be aviation pioneer and author Mary Bush Shipko, one of the first female airline pilots in the country, who will speak on how those women have changed the airlines.

HISTORICAL COMMITTEE: The Gloucester Historical Committee will meet at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Gloucester Main Library, 6920 Main Street.

SUPERVISORS TOUR: The Gloucester County Board of Supervisors will have a historic buildings tour beginning at 4 p.m. Tuesday on the court circle on Main Street.

PET STORY TIME: Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society will have its Pet Story Time from 1-1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 6620 Jackson Lane, Gloucester. All ages welcome. No registration required.

SOCIAL SERVICES: The Gloucester Social Services Board will meet at 7:30 a.m. next Thursday, Nov. 20, in the Department of Social Services conference room, 6641 Short Lane.

SUPERVISORS: The Mathews County Board of Supervisors will meet at 6 p.m. next Thursday, Nov. 20, in the historic courthouse on Court Street.

SUSAN CONSTANT: A talk on the restoration of the re-created 17th century ship the Susan Constant will be given by Eric Speth of the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation at 7 p.m. next Thursday, Nov. 20, at Mathews Memorial Library. It is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
