PLANNERS: The Gloucester County Planning Commission will meet at 6:30 tonight, Thursday, Feb. 5, in the colonial courthouse, 6504 Main Street, Gloucester.

SATURDAY

CUPCAKE WARS: A cupcake-baking contest will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Bay School Community Arts Center in Mathews. Registered participants will present two dozen decorated cupcakes to be judged and sold to the public for $5 each.

ABINGDON CONCERT: The Svyati Duo, organ and cello, will perform at 4 p.m. Saturday in the Arts at Abingdon Concert Series at Abingdon Episcopal Church, 4645 George Washington Memorial Highway, Gloucester. It is free and open to the public.

CHILI COOK-OFF: The 10th annual Mathews Rotary Club Chili Cook-off will be held from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Piankatank Ruritan Club, 7138 Buckley Hall Road, Mathews. Tickets for the all-you-can-eat affair are $25. Beer and wine will be available for purchase.

BROADBAND: The Mathews Broadband Advisory Board will meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Mathews Memorial Library.

WIDOWS GROUP: The Widows Ministry of Gloucester and Mathews County will hold its membership meeting at noon Tuesday at Tabernacle of Faith Church, 7028 Woodsville Road (Route 1306), Hayes. ROMCA: The Retired Officers of Mathews County will hold its monthly luncheon meeting starting at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 11, at Fiorello Ristorante Italiano, 4938 George Washington Memorial Highway, Hayes. Reservations are not required.

PET STORY TIME: The Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society will have Pet Story Time from 1-1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 11, at the shelter, 6620 Jackson Lane, Gloucester.

WETLANDS: The Gloucester County Wetlands Board will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 11, in the press room of County Building One, 6467 Main Street, Gloucester. It will also hold a meeting as the Gloucester Floodplain Management Committee.

EROSION COMMISSION: The Gloucester County Chesapeake Bay Preservation and Erosion Commission will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 11, in the colonial courthouse, 6504 Main Street, Gloucester.
