EVELYN FAITH CONNER

Evelyn Faith Conner, 57, of Bena, died Jan. 2, 2012 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Evelyn was born in Pennsylvania but grew up in Ohio. She served in the U.S. Air Force for almost 10 years as an administrative technician. During this time she received the Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with on Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster, Good Conduct Medal with two Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, National Defense Service Medal and Air Force Outstanding Unit Award. Evelyn met Rick Conner while in the Air Force and they were married in 1975. 

Evelyn was a member of Union Baptist Church. Evelyn had a passion for working with stained glass. She had a talent for designing projects and was especially happy when she made works for her family and her granddaughter in particular. She was devoted to her family and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Richard "Rick" Conner; three daughters, Samantha Roberts and husband Thomas and granddaughter Gabrielle of Hampton, Va., Jessica Nardozzi and husband Tony of Fuquay-Varina, N.C., and Christina DiGiovanna and husband Brad of Yorktown, Va.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Billy West and the Rev. Richard Whiteheart at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012, at Union Baptist Church, Hayes, with military honors. Interment was private.

The family received friends Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, from 7-8:30 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point, Va.
