EUGENE BOWERS STUBBLEFIELD  

Eugene Bowers Stubblefield, 93, of Gloucester, passed away on Friday, Jan. 22, 2016, in Riverside Walter Reed Hospital. His three daughters were by his side.

He was born in Gloucester, and was the son of the late Annie Ruth Purcell and William Henry Stubblefield.

He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II and spent time in the South Pacific on the LST-26. He worked as a marine engineer for ExxonMobil Corporation and retired in 1983. He was a member of Petsworth Baptist Church for 82 years, and he was a member of the Botetourt Masonic Lodge #7 for 66 years.

He was preceded in death by his dear wife, Jacquelyn Sibley Stubblefield.

He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Stubblefield Lumsden and her husband Keith, his daughter, Patricia Stubblefield Pitron and her husband John, and his daughter, Peggy Stubblefield Clark and her husband William. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Jacob Lumsden and his wife Melissa, Margaret Lumsden, John Pitron, Christopher Pitron, Catherine Clark and William Clark. 

A funeral service will be held on his birthday, Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Petsworth Baptist Church. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Andrews Funeral Home & Crematory, Gloucester, on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016, from 4-5:30 p.m.
