Do you remember those two or three glorious 50℉. days? I spent hours outdoors during that week, clipping back dwarf yaupon holly bushes to get a head start on spring. I also gathered piles of dead limbs and debris. By that Friday afternoon, I knew I had made a terrible mistake. You may remember that every few years I write a column about not overdoing it on the first nice days. To quote myself from the Feb. 22, 2024 “Gardening Corner”: If you haven’t had much physical activity during the last few months, don’t try to spend 6 or 8 hours working in the yard or garden on the first pleasant day. You will end up exhausted with sore or strained muscles. I broke my #1 springtime rule, and by Friday, the ulnar (pinkie) side of my right wrist was causing me great anguish.
