Entry forms available for MCWC literary contest

Entry forms for the Mathews County Woman’s Club’s literary contest are available, either through English teachers at the three county schools or at Mathews Memorial Library for home-schooled students.

The club has sponsored the literary contest in its current format for at least 15 years in order to encourage and support creative writing in all Mathews students. All short story and poetry submissions will be judged at the local level, with winners sent on to compete at the district and state levels. Mathews has had many winners at the district levels and recently had several Best in State winners, as well.

All entries will be on display at the club’s Arts and Crafts Show, which will be held on Sunday, May 8, 2016. There may be an opportunity for readings of selected works at that time.
