Entertainment to be a focus of this year’s G.I. Festival

Saturday’s 67th annual Gwynn’s Island Festival promises to provide more entertainment for adults and children alike than ever before, according to organizer Cricket Call.

This year’s event will kick off Friday afternoon with the annual Famous Chicken Dinner from 4:30-7 and the main festival will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday and continue until 3:45 in the afternoon.

Call said about 80 vendors are expected to take part in this year’s festival, featuring many new and different types of nautical and other arts and crafts. “We will have a fantastic array of all sorts of things,” said arts and crafts coordinator Brenda Rice.

“We will also have pony rides this year and lots of children’s games,” Call said. She said the festival has received numerous donations from local businesses and residents to help offset the costs of additional children’s games.
