EMS educator award

During Monday night’s monthly meeting of the Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad, Inc., GVFRS member Seth Craig IV was presented the 2021 PEMS Regional Outstanding Prehospital Educator Award. The award is given by the Peninsulas Emergency Medical Services Council to recognize a provider who exemplifies outstanding teacher and leadership qualities while participating as an educator in an EMS program. Craig is now eligible for the 2021 Governor’s award for Outstanding Prehospital Provider that will be presented at this year’s EMS Symposium in Norfolk. He has been a member of GVFRS for nearly a decade and currently is the department’s EMS Training Officer. Among his many responsibilities, Craig coordinates the annual EMT courses. The last two years have been a significant challenge for teaching EMT courses due to COVID-19, but he was able to complete the courses, preparing more than 30 students to take their National Registry EMT exams.
