Empty Bowls to be held Dec. 8 at Bay School

The 2019 Empty Bowls fundraiser will be held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8, at the Bay School Community Arts Center, Main Street, Mathews.

It will be hosted by the Bay School, Hands Across Mathews, and the Clay by the Bay Ceramics Guild to help fill the local food bank and provide holiday meals to those in need.

The program, now in its sixth year, continues to grow in impact, said a press release, raising $4,450 in 2018. All event proceeds go directly to HAM.

A $15 ticket gives the participant a handcrafted bowl to be treasured or given as a gift, a simple lunch of soup and bread to provide nourishment as well as a reminder of all the empty bowls in the world, and the warm fuzzy feeling of having helped fill a neighbor’s empty bowls in Mathews.

Close to 300 handmade pottery bowls are available this year, crafted by professional artisans and studio potters. An assortment of soups, breads, and cookies will be served during the event. Raffle tickets will also be so...
