ELSIE SEARS WILSON

Elsie Sears Wilson, age 93, left this life for her heavenly home on June 6, 2017.

She was a life resident of Gloucester County, and was the daughter of the late Richard Sears and Minnie Bew Sears. She was a lifelong member of Salem United Methodist Church where she taught children’s Sunday school and enjoyed singing in the church choir for many years.

She was a loving and devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was always willing to help and be there for family and friends. She enjoyed being with her extended family at Gloucester House, going on trips, playing Bingo, and doing the crafts with Rebecca and Kim. She also loved to cook and enjoyed sharing her dishes at church functions, with family members, and friends that would stop by for a visit.

She is survived by two daughters, Pat Sutton (Gene) of Newport News, Marion McDonald (Ronald) of Richmond; one son, Ronny Wilson (Robin) of Gloucester; grandchildren, Tammy Eagle (Buddy) of York County, Kara McDonald-White (Doug) of Charlottesville; great-grandchildren, Zachary and Sarah Eagle of York County, and Helen White of Charlottesville.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Woodford Wilson; brothers, Thomas Sears and Edward Sears; sisters, Dorothy South and Anna Roy.

The family received friends on Thursday, June 8 from 5-7 p.m. at Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Saluda. Funeral and graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 9 at Salem United Methodist Church, Gloucester, followed by a celebration of her life in the church fellowship hall. All services were led by the Rev. Rita Staul.
