Elliott Hogge elected VP of Ruritan National

Hayes resident Elliott Hogge has been elected vice president for 2013 of Ruritan National at the organization’s national convention last weekend in Covington, Ky.

Hogge, who has been a member of the Abingdon Ruritan Club since 1993, said it is the group of fun, caring individuals that make up Ruritan clubs throughout the country and the club’s motto, "Fellowship, good will and community service," that drive him to be a part of the organization.

Hogge started his mission in April 2011, when he decided he would run for the national position. He said he had all of 2012 to campaign in the 26 states that are part of the Ruritan National organization, which is comprised off about 30,000 members.

"When you go to those communities, you hope you impress enough folks to vote for you," Hogge said.

He also campaigned last Thursday and Friday at the convention, explaining his platform of what he hoped to contribute to the Ruritan organization if elected as vice president.
