Ellin Kirby Purcell, of Ewing, Va., formerly of Gloucester, Va., passed away Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013.
Ellin was a longtime member of Lebanon Church of Christ, and was retired from Roses Stores in Williamsburg, Va., following 40 years of service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin Woodrow Purcell; 11 brothers and sisters.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Ted and Esther Brindle of Ewing, Va.; three grandchildren, Randy Williams of Big Stone Gap, Va., Ted Brindle of Ewing, and Michael Brindle of Ewing; five great-grandchildren, Derek Williams, Robert Brindle, Katie Brindle, Jared Williams and Reagan Brindle; one great-great-grandchild, Madison Williams, and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service officiated by the Rev. Dennis Worsham will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16, at Peninsula Memorial Park, Newport News, Va. Friends are asked to assemble at the cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, Aug. 15, from 6-8 p.m. at Hogg Funeral Home, 3098 George Washington Memorial Highway, Hayes, Va.
