Ellen Elizabeth Lewis (Betty), 92, of Locust Hill, passed away quietly in her sleep at Dockside Health and Rehab Center on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2018.
She was born in Baltimore, Maryland, and raised in Pimlico, Maryland. She married the love of her life, Erwin H. Lewis Sr., who preceded her in death; they were happily married for 50 years. She was a member of Parkville Baptist Church, Parkville, Maryland, and was retired from Mercantile Bank & Trust. She and Erwin then retired to Gwynn’s Island in 1985.
Betty was an incredible seamstress, loved fishing, boating, knitting, and bowled well into her 90s.
She is survived by her daughter, Ellen Lenora Kelbaugh; her son, Erwin “Bubby” H. Lewis Jr. (Jeanette); eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her beloved friend and caretaker, Gloria Petrauskas, of Gwynn’s Island.
A private burial service was held on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Gwynn’s Island Cemetery, Gwynn’s Island. On Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018, at 3 p.m., a private family graveside service will be held at the cemetery.
