Elizabeth P. “Monie” Phillips, 93, of Cobbs Creek, Virginia, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, Aug. 13, 2021. She was one of the oldest members of Mathews Chapel United Methodist Church.

She was predeceased by her husband, Horace A. Phillips, and her oldest grandson, Scott Downs.

Elizabeth is survived by her three daughters, Debi Downs (Leonard Jr.), Donna Edwards (Bobby), and Theresa Ashberry (JJ); grandchildren, Jamie Hunley, Amy Hudgins (Andy), Wesley Ashberry and Phillip Ashberry (Jill); great-grandchildren, Hayden Downs, Tristan Downs, Braden Hunley, Blake Hunley, Jordan Hunley, Isabella Hudgins, Tyler Hudgins, Aidan Ashberry, Lilly Ashberry; her special dog, “Sweet Pea,” and a host of other loving family members.

The family received friends on Sunday, Aug. 15, 2021, from 6-8 p.m. at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, Virginia. A funeral service was held on Monday, Aug. 16, 2021, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with burial following in H.C. Smither Memorial Cemetery, Hudgins, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Elizabeth’s memory to The Virginia Home, 110 Hampton Street, Richmond, Virginia 23220, to Sheltering Arms Club Rec., 2805 W.
