The Gloucester County School Board appointed Ashley Walton of Urbanna and Emily Wright of Yorktown to elementary school teaching positions for the 2020-2021 school year during its April 14 electronic meeting.

The board accepted resignations from GHS special education teacher Ramey Childress, effective June 30; senior naval science instructor Justin Whitt, effective June 30; and Achilles Elementary library media specialist Jaime Abbondanzo, effective at the end of the school year.

A resignation was also accepted from Page Middle School teacher assistant Danielle Holzhauser, effective at the end of the school year.

In addition, the board approved retirement for Abingdon Elementary second grade teacher Nannette Nichols and Petsworth Elementary special education teacher Steven Sikes-Nova, both effective July 1.
