ELECTION: Mathews Supervisor candidates

O.J. Cole, 82, of Mathews is seeking his fourth term as a member of the Mathews County Board of Supervisors. He is running as an independent moderate. He said he is a fiscal conservative in business and in his private and public lives.

A director on the Middle Peninsula Alliance, a newly-established regional economic development program, Cole said he would like to serve another term so he can participate in that effort. He is also interested in continuing the county’s efforts on drainage and helping manage the county’s activities in a thoughtful, reasonable manner.

Cole attended Delta State Teacher’s College in Mississippi before joining the U.S. Air Force. While in the military, he studied Criminal Justice Systems Administration and spent 23½ years in the Air Force Office of Special Investigations.
