ELECTION: Mathews School Board candidates

Stephanie Armistead, a Mathews County native with children at Mathews High School, is one of four candidates seeking two four-year seats on the Mathews County School Board.

Armistead, 42, works as a loan officer for Movement Mortgage and has been a loan officer for 19 years. She and her husband, Wayne, have two children—Ethan, a senior, and Ellie, a sophomore.

A 1993 graduate of Mathews High School, Armistead attended classes at Christopher Newport University.

“As an elected school board member, I want to be the voice of the parents in Mathews,” Armistead said. “I am told that the superintendent’s office doesn’t always share the issues with the members … so the issues continue and never get addressed.”
