Election Day

Registered voters will have an opportunity to cast their ballots for a number of local and state races this Tuesday. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. in both Gloucester and Mathews.

In Gloucester’s contested races, voters will have an opportunity to cast their ballots for Holly Smith, the Republican nominee, or Conrad Bareford, an independent, for commonwealth’s attorney. Incumbent Bob Hicks is not running for reelection.

For sheriff in Gloucester, voters will choose between the incumbent Steve Gentry, an independent, and challengers Larry Rilee (the Republican nominee) and independents Ted Koehl and Clarence Bowser.

In board of supervisors races in Gloucester, Andy James, an independent, and Katie Thompson, the Democratic nominee, will face off for the Ware district seat, which is being vacated by Gregory Woodard, who is not seeking reelection.
