Eleanor Floyd Churn Allen, 75, of Gloucester, Va., went home to be with Jesus on Feb. 20, 2013.
Eleanor was born on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, and was the daughter of the late Clarence Sr. and Mary Churn, and sister of the late James Churn.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 56 years, Charles “Dick” Allen; son, Rick Allen (Genia), daughter, Charry Hudgins (Robert); grandchildren, Auburn DeBolt (Luke), Brittany DeBolt (Marc), Chad Allen (Caroline), Corey Kellum (Mark) and Leah Sutton (Kevin); great-grandsons, Caleb DeBolt, Brody Sutton and Austin Sutton; brother, Chuck Churn; sisters, Barbara Willis, Eliza Cox, Lucy Ames, and Flora Dutton, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Eleanor was known for her great love of music. Many appreciated her prowess on the piano and singing ability. She was also an incredible cook and loved to gather family and friends for her grand dinners. Her love of the Lord was an inspiration to her family and friends. Everywhere she lived and traveled she made lifelong friends.
There was a celebration of her life on Tuesday, Feb. 26, at Bellamy United Methodist Church in Gloucester at 2 p.m.
The family requests memorials be given to a hospice or dementia organization, or Bellamy United Methodist Church.
