Eileen Edmonds to perform benefit concert Saturday

Eileen Edmonds, Gloucester-raised singer and songwriter, will perform a benefit concert from 8-10 p.m. Saturday at the Gloucester Moose Lodge. Proceeds will help Literacy Volunteers of Gloucester as the organization marks 35 years of service in the community, said LVG board member Gloria J. Savage-Early.

Tickets are $10 (plus an additional fee if purchased online) and $12 at the door, a release said. Tickets can be purchased at Juan’s Mexican Café and Cantina, Yolanda’s on Main, Brent & Becky’s Bulbs, Jersey’s Cards & Comics, Rappahannock Concrete, or from a literacy board member or volunteer.

Edmonds is a graduate of Gloucester High School and Virginia Commonwealth University. She also attended Old Dominion University and graduate school in music at VCU.

Edmonds has been a Richmond resident for over 30 years, and taught music there for more than 10 years. She has previously contributed her talent to raise funds for Literacy, Safe Housing for Women and Children, and Hospice Care, Savage-Early said.

She has also served as an artist in residence at the Rappahannock Community College, Glenns, through the Virginia Commission for the Arts. She was awarded a fellowship by the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (VCCA). She is now a licensed financial services professional working at Benson Wealth Management Group.

She is the daughter of late Tish and Tommy Edmonds. Tish Edmonds was a literacy volunteer in Gloucester for many years, Savage-Early said.
