EDWIN EUGENE ROWE

Edwin Eugene Rowe, 73, of Gloucester, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Wood Rowe and John Franklin Rowe of Mathews, and his longtime companion, June Williams of Gloucester.

He was a native of Gloucester, and remained there his entire life. He graduated from Gloucester High School in 1962 and later went on to work at the Naval Weapons Station in Yorktown. After his retirement he enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, golfing, boating, and watching sports on television. His favorite teams were the Chicago Bears, LA Dodgers and UNC Tar Heels.

He loved the beach and he and June spent much time enjoying the York River waters and beaches. An animal lover at heart, he always had pets to keep him company.

He is survived by his daughter, Tammy Eagle and her husband Everett (Buddy); grandchildren, Zach and Sarah Eagle all of Yorktown; sister, Sylvia R. Jenkins and husband Gene of Foster.

A special thank you to his caregiver Angela Jenkins and to the Riverside Walter Reed Hospice team for their wonderful care of him during his last days.

The family received friends from 7-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017, at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point.
