EDWARD LEE GARRETT

Edward Lee Garrett, “Pete, PaPa Pete,” age 73, of Gloucester, Va., passed away on May 23, 2015 at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital in Gloucester.

He was born and raised in Blakes, Va. Edward Lee was a master shipbuilder, retiring from Newport News Shipbuilding after 43 years of service. Edward Lee was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Dora Garrett; and a sister, Leola Garrett Arnest.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Rebecca Hughes Garrett of Gloucester; a son, Edward Bryant Garrett and his wife Grayse of Gloucester; his “bestest buddies” (his grandsons), Clayton Lee Garrett and Jacob Orrin Garrett; his other “bestest buddy,” William (Bill) Morris and his wife Carolyn of Cobbs Creek, Va.; his sister-in-law, Carol Jackson and her husband LeRoy of Williamsburg, Va.; his brothers-in-law, John Hughes and his wife Linda of Duck, N.C., and Jason Hughes of Richmond, Va.

A memorial service was held on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at 6 p.m. in the Chapel of Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, Va. An inurnment will be held in Hughes Cemetery, Newland, N.C., at a later date.

A special thanks to the ICU staff at Walter Reed Hospital for their gentle and compassionate care of our loved one during this trying time.
