EDWARD JORDAN (E.J.) ROWE

Edward Jordan (E.J.) Rowe, 78, left his earthly home and entered his Heavenly home on May 29, 2020 after losing his courageous battle with Parkinson’s/dementia.

E.J. was a lifelong Gloucester native and a member of Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church. He graduated from Gloucester High School, Class of 1960. He attended Richmond Professional Institute and joined the U.S. Army Reserve in 1964. He was a past member of the Gloucester Lions Club. He retired from the Ordnance Department of Naval Weapons Station, Yorktown, with 31 years of service. After retirement, he became Commodore of the Ware River Yacht Club. Under his nine-year leadership as the Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 138, he was proud to bring 11 scouts to the rank of Eagle, including his son, for which he was the proudest. He took his troop to the National Scout Jamboree at Fort A.P. Hill, Virginia, in 1993, and on many camping trips. E.J. was an avid fisherman, hunter, wildlife artist and wood carver.

E.J. was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Edward and Elsie Jordan Rowe; a sister, Patricia Rowe Pointer, and granddaughter, Morgan Blair Crowell.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Virginia (Ginger) Rowe; his daughter, Lisa Rowe Watson (Jason) of Round Rock, Texas; son, Robert Gilbert Rowe (Shelby) of Gloucester, and his grandchildren, Jordan, Gracie, Alyssa and Emilie Watson.

Contributions can be made in memory of E.J. to the Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1417 Gloucester, Va. 23061 and to Boy Scout Troop 113 Treasurer, 10292 Robins Nest Lane, Gloucester, Va. 23061.

Arrangements are under the direction of Andrews Funeral Home and Crematory, Gloucester. Due to the rules and regulations regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, a memorial service honoring his life will be held at a later date.
