Edward D. German, 72, of Mathews, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 23, 2012, surrounded by his family.

Mr. German was a life-long resident of Mathews where he was in banking for 30 years. He was a member of Mathews Chapel United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Virginia German. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Rita; son, Edward D. German Jr. (Jennifer); sister, Kathy Sadler (Keith); sister-in-law, Darlene Price (D.K.); granddaughter, Olivia; nieces and nephews, and his two black Labs, Molly and Maggie.

The family received friends at 10 a.m., Monday, March 26, 2012, at Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home in Mathews. A funeral service followed in the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m., was conducted by Pastor Harry Loyd. Interment followed at Windsor Gardens Cemetery, Dutton, Va.
