The Gloucester County Public Schools Educational Foundation announced this week that its 2021 run/walk will be a virtual event.
Participants will have a three-week window (March 20-April 10, 2021) to run/walk a 5K, submit their time, and receive their finishers’ medal/T-shirt. Online signup will be available in early January.
Since 2012, the Educational Foundation has conducted a 3K and 8K run/walk in late February/early March to support its Teacher of the Year recognition and also to fund requests from teachers for mini-grants to purchase materials that enhance classroom learning.
Because of the pandemic, the board has decided to hold the 2021 event as a virtual 5K. The live race is scheduled to return in 2022.
In 2020, 475 individuals registered for the event, and their support, along with individual and corporate sponsors, enabled the Educational Foundation to recognize the Teachers of the Year from all eight public schools for the 2019-2020 school year and also to fund...
