EDNA ROWE SOUTH

Edna Rowe South of Gloucester, went to meet Jesus on Friday, Feb. 22, 2013.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents, Fannie Mae and Herman Rowe; husband Earl W. South, and five brothers and sisters.

Edna was a native of Gloucester County born in the Clay Bank area. She was a dedicated member of Bellamy United Methodist Church since age 12 where she served in the Missionary Circle, and XYZ Clubs. She also was a member of the V.I.P. Club at Newington Baptist Church.

What brought Edna the most joy in her life was her family, cleaning her house and taking care of her yard. Her John Deere lawnmower was among her prized possessions. Edna spent her life helping others and spreading the Love of Christ.

She is survived by two sons, Robert (Bobby) South and wife Carolyn, Bruce South and wife Janet; four grandchildren, Matt South and wife Lindsay, Mark South and wife Shelby, Regina South, Ben South and wife Andrea; four great-grandchildren, Taylor South, Blair South, Madison South and Hank South; nieces, Virginia Walker, Barbara Hall; nephew, Gary Rowe, and many cousins.

The family wishes to thank Riverside Hospice, Angie Jenkins, Tamara Murray-Leate, Debbie Richards and Anita Newcomb for their meticulous and kind care of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

A funeral service, conducted by the Rev. Kenneth S. Waclo, was held at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at Bellamy United Methodist Church. Interment followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, from 5-6:30 p.m.
