Editorial: Worthless?

We wonder if the federal Do Not Call list is worth the money it takes to “enforce” the law behind it. Constant dinner-time phone calls, usually from debt “service” solicitors, continue … no matter how many times they are reported, how many times they are told (crossly) to stop.
Then there are push-poll “surveys,” fund drives, and other intrusions.
Those who complain are usually advised by friends to get Caller ID or ditch their landlines. But why should the consumer bear the burden and the cost?
Readers, what has the Do Not Call list done for you, or to you? If we get some responses and cases in point, we will write about them …and send them to Rep. Rob Wittman.
In our view the Do Not Call list is worthless, and the law toothless....
