Editorial: What makes you thankful?

Perhaps it is the recovery of a child from a serious illness. Perhaps the presence of friends when bereaved. Perhaps the beautiful sunrises, gorgeous water birds, and lovely helpful neighbors that we come across in day-to-day living.

So many, many things make the grungy world brighter. President George H.W. Bush called them “points of light” and truly they seem to occur on the gloomiest of days.

We would like to hear from you: what makes you thankful? In the years we have offered this Thanksgiving Day special editorial section, we have heard from students, nursing home residents, and all manner of people in-between. Each respondent added to the body of thankfulness.

Please let us hear from you by Friday, Nov. 17. Thanksgiving comes early this year, on Nov. 23, and we will put our paper out a day early as well in hopes of getting the issue in the mail on time for Thanksgiving delivery.
