Editorial: VTC redeems itself

It’s unlikely that anyone was listening when we were sad a couple of weeks ago that the Virginia Tourism Corporation did NOT list Gloucester or Mathews as one of Virginia’s small towns “you’re going to love.”

But we offer a measure of forgiveness this week. The VTC’s online boosting column, blog.virginia.org, now names the Gloucester Daffodil Festival at the top of a list of spring events worth seeing.

The blog states, “A true harbinger of spring, Gloucester’s Daffodil Festival two day extravaganza held in early April, just as the beautiful yellow blooms make their appearance. With floats akin to those of the Rose Parade, the festival kicks off with the Daffodil Festival Parade and the Daffodil Queen. The remainder of the festival is what you’d expect—magicians, face painting, artisans, live music, and tons of food.”

We certainly agree. And we hope to see you this weekend, at one of Virginia’s top attractions. ...
