Editorial: Two good things

Two items in last week’s Gazette-Journal attest to the innate kindliness that motivates many people and some institutions. We wish to give both of them a spotlight of positive recognition.

Gloucester Commonwealth’s Attorney Holly Smith along with Cressondra Conyers, judge of the Gloucester Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court, have worked to create “A Special Place Just for Kids.”

This is not your usual playroom. It’s a relaxing space where children can wait before testifying in cases of physical and emotional abuse. In giving their testimony, the children help to bring justice to the community. Testifying is a nerve-wracking ordeal in any case; easing the fears of our youngest witnesses is surely a wonderful thing to accomplish.

Meanwhile, at the Gloucester Point Fishing Pier, some hospitalized and paralyzed veterans from area VA hospitals were brought for a day of fishing and good food.
