Many summers ago, they were bright and earnest young faces taking the oath to defend their country. Today they are names on monuments, their lives cut short in the service of that goal.

We must remember the men and women who made the supreme sacrifice, and at the same time honor those who serve today, knowing that such sacrifice might also be demanded of them.
