We pause here to congratulate the folks at Virginia’s Li’l Ole Opry, Donk’s Theater, Hudgins, for putting together a 40-year run of musical entertainment for the community.
Members of Mathews County’s Smith Family reopened the former movie house in 1975 as a venue for country music. They have put on shows every other weekend or so, every year, since then. They bring in talent from other arenas, including some mighty big names through the years; they have developed their own upcoming family members; they have discovered new singers through annual talent shows; and they have entertained countless music lovers in hundreds of shows.
Well done, Donk’s people. The beat goes on. ...
