Tuesday morning will bring the annual rollout of the yellow school bus fleet; stampedes in thousands of homes as students cram their backpacks with necessities and their breakfasts (possibly) into their mouths. Then they rush to their bus stops.
Students, meet your bus drivers. Bus drivers, meet your students. Everyone else, please slow down a bit as the annual ritual is renewed.
Motorists, be sure to stop when the bus stops. On a two-lane road, watch for latecomers dashing to the open door. Accidents do happen, and they can be tragic.
Summer fun ends Tuesday and the honorable schools again welcome the warm bodies that bring them to life.
