It’s well known that the United States Coast Guard saves lives. And now, the station at Milford Haven has been saved for full-time duty.
Thanks all around to the citizens who spoke and wrote to save the station, and to Rep. Rob Wittman who organized a meeting of citizens with Coast Guard officials, and to all others who worked behind the scenes.
People may think, “The government will never listen to me,” but in this case, the officials certainly did listen. That creaky bureaucracy known as the United States government heard our voices loud and clear, and heeded our message.
Year-round service at Station Milford Haven will continue. No one will have to point to a future fatal shipwreck to say “if only we still had our station.” Maximum float power remains on our shorelines, and we are forever grateful to all who made it happen.
