Editorial: Reason to hope

A few daffodils are blooming: one public patch shows up on eastbound Route 14, at the top of the banked curve at Flat Iron.

This promising sign takes the sting out of remaining winter days. We notice that buds are swelling on the trees, along with noticeably more daylight, and these early indicators give us reason to hope that this long, long winter may soon recede into memory.

All the same, never trust March. ...
