Editorial: Our world today

Last week at Old Dominion University, one person died and two were injured in an attempted, apparently terroristic, mass shooting. The bravery of other students in the classroom prevented much worse from happening, and the gunman is dead. In Michigan, a man with a gun drove into a synagogue. He too died, with one individual injured when struck by the truck. As the war in Iran began, a shooter in Texas, wearing a shirt with the Iranian flag on the front, killed two and wounded 14 before being killed himself. We trust that our national security agencies are working to detect and thwart future attacks, and to determine if these are linked or lone wolf incidents. It’s likely all were inspired in reaction to the Iranian war, and if that is the case, more will come. Is anywhere safe? It is not likely....
