Editorial: On to Easter

A final anniversary we recall here: the approach of Easter, a moveable feast that falls on Sunday this year, and occurred 51 weeks earlier, on April 12, in 2020.

We looked back at our pre-Easter issue for last year: What Easter services were held were done online, on conference calls, or by way of drive-in services. No egg hunts.

Editorially, we celebrated the medical workers, truck drivers, grocery clerks and others doing the essential work in the face of an unknown enemy.

At a time when supplies were tight, we saluted people who made and gave away masks, delivered groceries to their neighbors, used their ingenuity to organize drive-by parties; worked behind closed doors to deliver essential services; carried on schooling online. We said: “While we are shut in, we are not alone in a society that cares about its neighbors.

We are all trying to get through this dark period and to find a way forward and to see the relief on the other side of this emergency.”
