We asked, you answered, and this week we run nominations for the worst-littered places in Gloucester and Mathews. Indian Road in Gloucester got two nominations so possibly it’s the winner (or is that loser?). Oh, the shame of it all. We have seen a “please don’t litter” sign posted on Indian Road, with beer cans tossed out next to it. Oh, the shame.

The sad fact is that every corner of our counties can lay claim to being “the worst” of the worst. Nominations came in from every point, from the road leading to Gloucester Point Beach to New Point Comfort Highway. It seems a small segment of our population thinks nothing of throwing out its beer cans, fast-food bags, whiskey bottles and butts on someone else’s property. Oh, the shame.

After all, the object of these litterers, keeping their own vehicles clean, must come first!
