Editorial: No time for complacency

While states like Texas, Florida and Arizona are experiencing a resurgence in new cases of the COVID-19 virus, Virginia is continuing to do well in keeping its coronavirus numbers down.

Faced with rising numbers, some states have been forced to return to a form of lockdown, with restaurants and other businesses that had just opened their doors having to scale back or even shut back down.

As the curve of new cases continues to flatten in the commonwealth, now is hardly the time to become complacent.

Just because numbers are trending downward in Virginia doesn’t mean that we can go back to life as usual … that we can have parties and other social gatherings … that we can throw away our face masks and disregard social distancing guidelines … that we can just suffer through “a cold” and go back to work.
