It’s hard times for the Gloucester Fair. For the second year in a row, the Gloucester Fair Association was unable to organize the event that has defined summer in G-town.

There are a number of contributing factors, but the real reason, it seems, is that the organizers need more help. A new generation is coming along and in this group of thousands should be at least a dozen or so strong, hardworking, dedicated people who can help to make the fair happen.

We posted the "No Fair" story on Facebook and readers registered their dismay. Here is their chance to help: let them step forward to join the Gloucester Fair Association. Call Parks, Recreation and Tourism, which has stepped into an auxiliary role with the association, and say you want to see it return in 2014. The number is 693-2355.
